The Jenner Centre – DD9 Connections Issue No 34
All the activities at the Jenner Centre continue as before. Footcare still sees clients leaving with smiles on their faces and a spring in their step, as their feet feel so much more comfortable once Joyce has worked her magic.
Hearing aid services bring clients from around Angus simply because they can drop in any Tuesday or Friday morning without an appointment. New to this service is the development by NHS Tayside of self referral to audiology. Forms are available at the Jenner Centre for anyone to fill in if they feel that they need audiology services.
The Arts and Crafts Group as well as the Sewing Machine Group and the Crochet Class continue to do the most amazing work. We’re hoping to display some of their work later this summer.
Wendy’s mending service took off immediately and she has a pile on her table waiting for her attention as you can see from the photo.

Seated exercise is nearing capacity, for numbers, but there’s always room for a few more as not everyone comes every week. I don’t think with Jean’s vast CD selection we have heard the same music twice! Whether it’s memories of the 50s and 60s pop music or perhaps Uncle Mac’s Children’s Favourites on the wireless on a Saturday morning, we find ourselves singing along, although I don’t think that the Seated Exercise Choir is quite ready for a public performance!
Angus Council is coming to the Jenner Centre from 6th to the 10th of July with a display providing information on future options for the lower areas of the town, including flooding, housing, and green space.
Together with the Cancer Support Group, we are planning to hold a Breast Cancer Afternoon Tea towards the end of August. Look out for further information in the coming weeks.
The jeely pan will be busy in the next month or two as the fruit ripens. There is a big crop of raspberries ripening and a wee bit later, there will be plenty damsons and apples. Any surplus fruit which you are unable to use yourselves will be gratefully received; but I do need jars so, if anyone has some to spare I’d be happy for you to hand them into the Jenner Centre.
Thank you again for supporting the Jenner Centre and Brechin Healthcare Group with all the donations that you give us. This makes such a difference to the services we are able to offer local folk.
