The Jenner Centre – DD9 Connections Issue No 33

,

We have a fairly settled programme at the Jenner Centre at the moment.  However, as you’ll have seen in the foreword, Grahame is leaving Brechin and coffee drinkers at the Monday mornings Chit Chat will miss him and his interest in everyone.

Hearing Aid Batteries:  There is an acute nationwide shortage of 312 batteries.  Our last order was not fulfilled and so we’re running low.  At the moment, if you need batteries you will only be given one card per hearing aid till we get more stock.  Each battery should last at least 6 to 7 days and each card has 6 batteries.  We’ve checked with other places locally which issue batteries and have managed to share our stock ie. we’ve managed to acquire a few more cards of 312s.  We can only apologise for this which is beyond our control and hope it will be resolved before too long.

One addition to our programme is a Simple Mending Service for the over 60s beginning in June.  Advance notice has already piqued interest so pick up those clothes lurking in your mending pile and bring them to the Jenner Centre on Thursdays between 2 and 4 pm and see how Wendy can rejuvenate your wardrobe.

In previous issues, Brechin Library has submitted their programme of activities, the “How often” stating “fortnightly” or “4 weekly” from an earlier date in January or February.   I have spoken to the librarian to see if they can clarify the sessions which won’t need you to go back to January or February to work out dates 2 or 4 weekly.  I’m hoping that they will come up with something like 1st or 2nd Tuesday of the month etc. as we do with the Dementia Carers Group and the Cancer Support Group.  Hopefully we’ll get it sorted for Issue 34.

With Grahame going away, it means we will have an “editorial team” of one!  If anyone is interested in giving me a hand, I’d be very grateful:  gathering the various contributions through the dedicated email address, chasing up those about to miss the deadline, coming up with more ideas for content, proofreading, and delivering copies around the town when the new issues come from the printer.  Wow, I hadn’t thought about how much Grahame has done!  The more people we have helping, the less work there will be for each of us,  Please get in touch to find out more.
