BHG April 2020 Update

,

Brechin Health Group have been working tirelessly to produce a body of evidence in the form of a feasibility study and business plan to support a Community Asset Transfer application to NHS Tayside for the acquisition of the Brechin Infirmary Site as a Health and Wellbeing Hub.

NHS Tayside have however notified the group that due to the immediate healthcare impact of the Covid pandemic they are unable to progress the CAT application within the 6 months timeframe. They are proposing to extend the decision for a further 6 months till the 31st January. This may have serious implications for funding to purchase the building due to the deadline for applications to the Scottish Land Fund.

At present we are in talks with the proprietor of a premises in the town centre to set up the Jenner Centre which would serve as a drop in facility to support members of the community with long-term health conditions and those who have been adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. We ultimately plan to accommodate this facility within the wellbeing hub as part of the services offered to the community should our application be successful.

We would like to thank everyone who has given positive feedback and the many offers of support for the project. Please be assured that the Brechin Healthcare Group are exploring every option possible to progress the application on behalf of the community.
